Such an obvious and straightforward solution does not lend itself to much by the way of comment, other than, if you have not already, try programming a solution in pure python (without 3rd party module) as this may help with your programming skills and test your knowledge of matrix algebra, what the determinant is and how to find its value.

Excellent. The review I made was based on a random review by email. I had no way of knowing whose code it was and whether or not they had submitted a solution in another category hence my use if "if" and "may.."
