Python is Now the Most Popular Introductory Teaching Language at Top U.S. Universities

In a recent study done by Phillip Guo and published on the ACM's Communications Website, Python is now the most frequently taught programming language in Introductory Computer Sciences classes. Guo took a look first at the top 10 universities, finding that of these ten, eight (80%) of the universities used Python in their introductory CS classes. Then broadening his scope, he took a look at the top 39. Of these 39, 27 (67%) used Python as an introduction to programming. Read more straight from the source.

Cool Stuff Done in Python

Over on the /r/python subreddit, redditor WillieWampum came up with an incredibly creative way to find concert tickets for a favorite band of his. Using Python, WilliWampum wrote a Python script which would search Craigslist for concert tickets every ten minutes, then text him if any were found.
