What's the problem with using a.__truediv__(b) instead of a / b? Operators exist and have distinguished syntax for a reason.

I am afraid this is not explanation this is just statement. O.K. operators do exist and they have some reason beyond... And that explains completely nothing :) I would expect more insightful answer from you :)

Hm. I guess it seemed obvious to me why do we need syntax. Just look at LISP. :-P It is just a much richer structure - with precedence, associativity, various evaluation rules - that's not really replaceable by method calls whenever you encounter anything a bit more complicated. I'd suggest you read carefully <a href="https://www.python.org/dev/peps/pep-0465/">https://www.python.org/dev/peps/pep-0465/</a>#why-should-matrix-multiplication-be-infix (and the whole Motivation section if you have time). It is wonderfully written, so much that it has compelled Guido to add new syntax to the language. It's not a small thing. There you have detailed explanations why operators are much better than methods when writing things with math background. And intersection of sets surely is such. Is this any better?
