You don't need () inside [] when indexing by tuple. And f, s can be inlined there directly. Calculating them before doesn't get you anything.

Sorry for the newbie question, but what did you mean by " And f, s can be inlined there directly. Calculating them before doesn't get you anything."? I'm trying to wrap my head around it but I can't seem to figure it out on my own!

I meant he could have written <pre class='brush: python'>def checkio(number): return { (True, True): "Fizz Buzz", (True, False): "Fizz", (False, True): "Buzz", (False, False): str(number), }[not number % 3, not number % 5] </pre> and it wouldn't be worse in any way. There is a popular myth that giving a single-letter name with almost zero semantics (comeon, f and s are probably from "first" and "second") to an object that is used only once, is somehow increasing readability. It isn't. It's just increasing the number of lines of code, and making you jump around trying to see "where is s defined".

Ahh very interesting, can anyone provide information where I can read more about this type of programming? I am very fascinated on how this code was structured, i seem to have put the pieces together and no what the code is doing but would also want to read more about this syntax.

This is the "Python's switch statement", or at least, it's the most common response when someone asks why Python doesn't have a switch statement. It's just a dictionary with expressions that are all calculated (can be avoided with `lambda`s) and the right value is selected (default can be specified with `.get`) according to the key, which in this case is a pair of `bool`s.

This solution came really unexpected for me. It's very interesting and I already learned a new trick by comparing my very first solution in checkio to others.

I have seen a similar thing in production code. The programmer used strings like "TrueTrueFalse" to index the results. I think he did that to amuse maintainers, or at least I hope so.
