I believe that the notification messages that publication authors receive when someone downvotes their publication are a bit misleading: "ABC liked your published implementation PQR on XYZ (-4)". It wouldn't be hard to use "disliked" when the score is negative. As a last resort, I'd use "reviewed" instead of "liked".
