'ap'[h>11] is clever. I wouldn't think to do that. For those who didn't get it, the boolean h>11 resolves to True or False, but numerically that is 1 or 0, so it either grabs the zeroth or first element of the string 'ap' Also I've never calculated using the % operator on a negative number, and the result was unexpected to me, but some googling has improved my understanding of the % operator. Also this reminds me that I need to use fstrings more often.

Like others said it is clever but it doesn't clearly state what the programmer wanted to express imho...

At first I didn't think it would work because I expected it to miss 12:30 a.m., but then I realized the code never actually changed the hour from "00" but only reported it as "12" in the return string. So it turns out it does work as a clever but not clear approach.

Incredibly clever. Shows me how far I have to go, though, as this was a looong way from "clear" to me. I'll keep at it, though, and will get there one day! Great job! Never seen a conditional evaluation used to select an element from a list or str before. That's a rad approach, and I'll be looking for ways to use it.

I wonder if h is 0, then (h-1)%12 + 1 could be 12. Also, I have no idea why not m, m:02d. Can you guys explain these?

after applying map we have h and m as integer, so if minutes less then 10 the (01, 02 etc.) we have '0' cut off and instead of, for example, 08 we'll have just 8. {m:02d} helps us to show minutes as we need for a task. m - minutes, 02 - how many numbers should contain 'm', d - type of 'm' (d - decimal, f-float). Try to play in your interpreter and all will become clear to you. For example instead of {m:02d} insert in your code {m:04d} and then {m:03f}. Hope my muddled explanation helps you)

I like the 'ap'[h>11] part quite a lot The part about the minutes would be a lot easier with h, m = int(time[:2]), time[2:] so you can just return f"{(h-1)%12+1}{m} {'ap'[h>11]}.m." I saw it in some other solution and liked the idea of not converting minutes to int and back

This is clever, but not clear. "Clear" solutions should emphasize readability and be documented with comments. What advantage do variable names like "h" and "m" have over "hour" and "minute"?
