I've seen some very (perhaps too?) clever solutions to this problem. They're nice, but they're not super comprehensible without a relatively detailed explanation. I really like this solution as it's quite clean and intuitive. It doesn't hurt that I took the (relatively) same approach; maybe my bias is showing. ;) My code's not nearly so elegant or streamlined, I'm afraid. I used the `time` module myself, but didn't know about the `strptime` method to create a time tuple. I ham-fistedly created a time tuple myself by splitting the input string into component parts and then creating a tuple with dummy values in all but the relevant positions. D'oh! Great work!

Format string `%-I` is nice!

I used the same idea, i knew %p but I didn't think to use 'replace' for AM/PM! I used 'format' instead: datetime.strftime(datetime.strptime(time, '%H:%M'), "%-I:%M {}" .format('p.m.' if datetime.strptime(time, '%H:%M').hour >= 12 else 'a.m.')) Note for all: '%-I' works with linux, use '%#I' for windows
