Oooph, that is a hard one for a novice to read. Let me check if my understanding is correct. <ul> <li>len(s) and ... -- to ensure non-empty content </li> <li>Maximum of the two: <ul> <li>max(s)-s[0] -- maximum profit</li> <li>p(s[1:]) -- call of the same lambda function, excluding the first element</li> </ul></li> </ul> Great job! (Note for myself: I gotta learn to use recursive lambda functions.)

@oduvan assured me that if I put my programs in Creative category, novices won't read them. Obviously he was wrong. :-D Basically, the maximum is between two possibilities, whether it is the first-moment-bought stock that gives the largest profit, or not. If yes, then obviously it should be sold at max(s) price (and it was bought at s[0]), giving max(s)-s[0] profit. If not, then the first price obviously doesn't matter at all, so the problem can be shortened by looking only at the tail of the list. BTW lambdas are just a notation for simple functions, functions themselves (including recursivity) work the same.

Haha, well, there is no "riddles" nor "puzzles" category where most of the one-liners belong. So the creative category is a good fit. Thanks for the explanation. And also for the comment regarding lambda functions being just another notation - I didnt think of them that way.
