Hi. In my code I used: <pre class='brush: python'>return 0 if len(args) == 0 else max(args) - min(args) </pre> But checking everyone answers I'm noting that this may not be a good way to solve this. I would like to know why is "max(args)-min(args) if args else 0" a better solution. Thanks.

An empty list evaluates to false so <pre class='brush: python'>len(args) == 0 </pre> is the same as <pre class='brush: python'>not args </pre> If you place the return 0 in the else part, then you can do away with "not" too. Then this is more readable and succinct: <pre class='brush: python'>return max(args) - min(args) if args else 0 </pre>

you should also round your result to 3 significant digits after point

Nope <blockquote> we should check the result with ±0.001 precision. </blockquote> it's not the same as "round you results".

didn't know that something like max() or min() exist... So here is how you should not do it... <pre class='brush: python'>def checkio(*args): nejmensi = 0.0 nejvetsi = 0.0 for i in range (0, len(args)): kolikrat = 0 for x in range (0, len(args)): if args[i] > args[x]: break else: kolikrat += 1 if kolikrat == len(args): nejmensi = args[i] print("nejmensi: " + str(nejmensi)) for i in range (0, len(args)): kolikrat = 0 for x in range (0, len(args)): if args[i] < args[x]: break else: kolikrat += 1 if kolikrat == len(args): nejvetsi = args[i] print("nejvetsi:" + str(nejvetsi)) return (nejvetsi - nejmensi) </pre>

hello have another question compared to this version <pre class='brush: python'>return 0 if not args else max(args) - min(args) </pre> supposing there where a ton of data to process, are there any differences in speed? By typing I thought that may be faster, just by guts. Don't know. appreciate any pros insight.
