    items=sorted(items)
    przeskok=items[-1]-items[-2]
    for x in items:
        if x+przeskok not in items:
            return x+przeskok

Brilliant. At first thought it would make mess on the last item (as its x+przeskok would not be in the list), but IT DOES NEVER REACH THE LAST ITEM. And even if missing item is between last and pre-last item (example: [1,3,5,9], so the calculated przeskok is twice the difference between the items!), thanks the condition checking after adding przeskok to lower items, it does not bother us if we add real difference or add double this difference.

At first I thought this code would make a calculation mistake, but this code is correct.
