Short and clear, but you do count for each element over and over again, and that's not good.

It's brilliant. Clear and short. However, using sort is slow as it is. Doing it two times won't make it better.

Since you asked more than a year ago, I guess you've already figured it out, but for others who might be asking the same question: type `help(sorted)` in the interactive Python interpreter and you'll see the following (or similar): ``` Help on built-in function sorted in module builtins: sorted(iterable, /, *, key=None, reverse=False) Return a new list containing all items from the iterable in ascending order. <pre class='brush: python'>A custom key function can be supplied to customize the sort order, and the reverse flag can be set to request the result in descending order. </pre> ``` You see that the `key` parameter accepts a function. This means a reference to a function object, not the result of a function call (unless the function returns another function :)). Sorting is then done by passing each element of whatever you are sorting to that function and by comparing the return values. Study the following examples: ``` In [2]: sorted("abcdABCD") Out[2]: ['A', 'B', 'C', 'D', 'a', 'b', 'c', 'd'] In [3]: sorted("abcdABCD", key=str.lower) Out[3]: ['a', 'A', 'b', 'B', 'c', 'C', 'd', 'D'] In [4]: sorted("ABCDabcd", key=str.lower) Out[4]: ['A', 'a', 'B', 'b', 'C', 'c', 'D', 'd'] ``` I recommend to read more about the `sorted` function in the <a href="https://docs.python.org/3/library/functions.html?highlight=sorted#sorted">docs</a>.
