Practically the same implementation that I made! I used translate instead of replace though, uses up less characters.

Yeah. I rather code like this: <pre class='brush: python'>#if sys.version_info[0]>=3: if 'maketrans' in str.__dict__: maketrans=str.maketrans else: from string import maketrans flat_list=lambda array: eval('['+str(array).translate(maketrans('','','[]'))+']') </pre> This exceeds 140 chars...

May I ask what is this for: <pre class='brush: python'>str.__dict__ </pre>

<pre class='brush: python'>$ python -c "print('maketrans' in str.__dict__)" False $ python3 -c "print('maketrans' in str.__dict__)" True </pre> Of course, sys.version_info[0]>=3 is much more readable, but CheckiO does not allow that module.
