What I meant is that a) this is not an oneliner, and b) you should have seen enough of my solutions here already that you shouldn't be surprised about the terseness. :-]

why do you use "yield from [x]" instead of "yield x"?

"yield from [x]" is not a subexpression of what I wrote. Same as "2+3" is not a subexpression of "2+3*4". You see? If not, try to change it and you'll probably understand.

You mean it is like that: yield from ([x] if isinstance(x, int) else ) ? Parenthesis are for understanding

Yes. So it is yielded from [x], or it is yielded from flat_list(x). And then, of course, you can't easily write it as single yield.
