If you are going to follow PEP8, this is the better solution. BUT, I remember that @veky posted a little essay on the pros and cons of that, but can't find it, if somebody knows where it is let us know

I'm not quite sure what "that" refers to. But yes, the lambdas are overused. See <a href="https://py.checkio.org/mission/binary-count/publications/veky/python-3/hinted/share/7bcd07614f4c5183a12b675c05cceb5d/#comment-40299">this</a> and <a href="https://py.checkio.org/mission/binary-count/publications/veky/python-3/hinted/share/7bcd07614f4c5183a12b675c05cceb5d/#comment-42974">this</a> comment for a precise reason why I use them in a highly artificial environment such as CheckiO. Also, there is no "one size fits all" syntactic construct: if there were, our lives would be much easier and much more boring. See <a href="https://py.checkio.org/mission/pangram/publications/asa119/python-27/first/share/074fd8ceec0ec9074e5d667a20a7b413/#comment-24720">this</a> comment for details. (And you can read the whole discussion, you'll learn many things, but I warn you it's very long.:) In this concrete case, what you need is a function specialization: checkio is a special case of sorted, with key fixed to abs. <pre class='brush: python'>from functools import partial as special_case checkio = special_case(sorted, key=abs) </pre> And that's it. Better than lambda, and even better than def. You just have to dare to think about the whole range of possibilities, not only the most obvious (or most general) ones. "Ah, just write a def (with only statement being a `return`)" is the same kind (though less intensity) of laziness as the Java "Ah, just write a class (with only method being a `main`)" attitude. And we know too well what it's got Java into. :-]
